VALORACIÓN DEL ESTRÉS EN ANIMALES DE INTERVENCIONES ASISTIDAS: TERMOGRAFÍA

Abstract

(ES) La intervención asistida con animales (IAA) ha despertado un interés creciente debido a los numerosos beneficios que trae para el bienestar humano. Sin embargo, hay escasa información sobre el estrés que puede generar en los animales participantes, lo cual representa un vacío ético en la práctica, ya que el bienestar animal es un pilar fundamental al realizar estas intervenciones. La termografía es una técnica que permite valorar la temperatura corporal a través de la medición de radiación infrarroja y representa un método no invasivo para investigar la respuesta al estrés en los animales. Así, el objetivo del presente documento es analizar, a través de una revisión bibliográfica, la utilidad de la termografía para valorar el estrés en animales de intervención. Tras realizar una revisión bibliográfica, se han seleccionado 8 estudios. Los resultados coinciden en que la termografía es una herramienta útil para medir el estrés en animales de intervención asistida.

(EN) Animal-assisted intervention (AAI) has aroused growing interest due to the numerous benefits it brings to human well-being. However, there is little information about the stress that it can generate in the participating animals, which represents an ethical gap in practice, since animal welfare is a fundamental pillar when carrying out these interventions. Thermography is a technique that allows body temperature to be assessed through the measurement of infrared radiation and represents a non-invasive method to investigate the stress response in animals. Thus, the objective of this document is to analyze, through a bibliographic review, the usefulness of thermography to assess stress in intervention animals. After carrying out a bibliographic review, 8 studies have been selected. The results agree that thermography is a useful tool to measure stress in assisted intervention animals.
