Indices-CSIF, Nursing & Allied Health Premium, PsycINFO, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Cochrane, Web of Science hasta
The stress of family caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) poses a risk to their biopsychosocial well-being, with negative repercussions for the child. The aim of this meta-analysis was to analyze the effectiveness of educational and psychoeducational interventions in reducing stress in family caregivers of children with ASD. We searched Pubmed, CINAHL, ERIC, Health & Medical Collection, Indices-CSIF, Nursing & Allied Health Premium, PsycINFO, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Cochrane, Web of Science until March 2023. Pooled estimates were obtained using a fixed and random effects model. After selecting 1072 articles, 11 studies were included. Statistically significant association of educational interventions on stress was found (SD=-0.298, 95% CI = -0.417, -0.178). No statistically significant differences were found for psychoeducational interventions. Educational interventions have a beneficial effect on stress reduction in family caregivers of children with ASD.
