The growing development of the automotive auxiliary industry is resulting in an increase in plastic waste, including acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). Therefore, it is important to find a second use for these plastic wastes. This Final Degree Project aims to optimize the use of ABS waste as a substitute for sand aggregate in the manufacture of Porland cement mortars. Standardized specimens of each series of mortar have been manufactured with 0, 25, 50, 50, 75, 100 % vol. substituted of the sand aggregate by the residue. The results obtained indicate that the substitution of sand aggregate for ABS residue gives rise to lighter and less waterproof mortars, with a decrease in their mechanical properties such as flexural strength and compressive strength, but with improved thermal insulation capacity.
