Resumen
El objetivo principal del TFG es la creación de una aplicación gráfica que permita simular el recorrido de flujos de
lava a través de un modelo de elevación digital (DEM) seleccionado previamente. Para ello, se tomará como
base el algoritmo de extracción de redes hídricas de drenaje descrito en: Rueda et al. A flooding algorithm for
extracting drainage networks from unprocessed digital elevation models. Computers & Geosciences, 59 (2013).
A su vez, la aplicación gráfica proporciona una visualización del terreno y una animación fluida del flujo de lava a
través del mismo. Además, se ha incluido una interfaz de usuario que incorpora diversos mecanismos que
permiten pausar la simulación, controlar su velocidad o visualizar el tiempo total de simulación. Una vez el
desarrollo de la aplicación se ha finalizado, se ha comparado el resultado alcanzado con imágenes reales de la
erupción volcánica en el territorio de La Palma.
The main purpose in this TFG is the creation of a graphic application for simulation of lava propagation. This simulation is based on the flooding approach for drainage extraction described in: Rueda et al. A flooding algorithm for extracting drainage networks from unprocessed digital elevation models. Computers & Geosciences, 59 (2013). In this application, the user must choose a digital elevation model (DEM) which represent a terrain. Furthermore, the user can see the DEM in a graphic window and the animation of lava propagation. Moreover, the application includes a graphic user interface (GUI). In this GUI, the user can pause the simulation, control its velocity or see the total time of simulation. When the application has been finished, it has been compared the result of the algorithm to the real images of La Palma volcano eruption.
