Resumen
Este trabajo analizará la obra de teatro The Gods Are Not to Blame escrita por el dramaturgo nigeriano Ola Rotimi. Para comenzar introduciremos un requerido contexto y una breve introducción respecto al autor y emplazamiento de la obra. Después se desarrollará un análisis detallado y profundo de esta tragedia. Por último, debido a que este drama está basado en la tragedia griega de Edipo Rey, compararemos las dos obras y presentaremos los nuevos elementos que Rotimi introduce o que elimina en esta nueva adaptación.
This paper will analyse the play of theatre The Gods Are Not to Blame by Nigerian playwright, Ola Rotimi. Firstly, we will introduce some required background and brief introduction concerning the author and the location of the work. Secondly, it will be developed a detailed and deep analysis of this tragedy. And, since this drama is based on the Greek tragedy of Oedipus Rex, we will compare both plays and state the new literature elements that Rotimi inserts or deletes in this new adaptation.
