¡Ay, Carmela!, Análisis de la obra teatral y su adaptación cinematográfica

Abstract

Este trabajo de Fin de Grado representa un análisis de la pieza de teatro ¡Ay, Carmela! (1987), creada por José Sanchis Sinisterra, dramaturgo y director teatral español, y de su adaptación cinematográfica realizada por el cineasta Carlos Saura. Dicha obra se considera una de las más importantes en el ámbito del teatro a partir de la posguerra española y muestra principalmente las consecuencias que dejó la Guerra Civil española. A través de este trabajo, se ha intentado analizar el carácter de los personajes, la estructural tanto espacial como temporal de la obra, y también, se han querido reflejar los intentos de recuperación de la memoria histórica, que se considera el sustento, o tema principal de ¡Ay, Carmela! Para justificar esta investigación, nos hemos basado en teorías de estudiosos como Bobes o García Barrientos, pero también, en investigaciones de Paul Ricoeur. Como se ha mencionado anteriormente, dicho trabajo termina con un análisis comparado entre la obra objeto de estudio de José Sanchis Sinisterra y la versión cinematográfica que realizó Carlos Saura.

This Final Degree project is articulated around an analysis of the play ¡Ay, Carmela! (1987) by José Sanchis Sinisterra, Spanish playwright and theater director, and of its film adaptation by the filmmaker Carlos Saura. This play is considered one of the most important in the field of theater since the Spanish postwar period and mainly shows the consequences of the Spanish Civil War, which lasted from 1936 to 1939. Throughout this work, we have tried to analyze the typology of the characters and both the spatial and temporal structure. Likewise, an attempt has been made to reflect the intentions to recover historical memory, which is considered the basis of ¡Ay, Carmela! To justify this research, we have relied on theories of scholars such as Bobes or Garcia Barrientos, but also on research by Paul Ricoeur. As mentioned above, this work ends with a comparison between the work of José Sanchis Sinisterra and the film adaptation made by Carlos Saura.
