Resumen
Tradicionalmente, las entidades financieras trataban de eludir el
riesgo en lugar de enfrentarlo, siendo este la base de la actividad
crediticia que llevan a cabo. Por ello, la crisis económica de 2008
hizo saltar las alarmas en lo que a medición y gestión del riesgo se
refiere. Fue entonces, cuando las autoridades supervisoras
pusieron en marcha un conjunto de medidas para crear un sistema
más fuerte y capacitado que fuera capaz de hacer frente a
situaciones similares en el futuro.
En este trabajo, se hace referencia a la importancia de gestionar el
riesgo y a la evolución de este en los últimos cinco años en
España. Además, se aplica el método CAMEL en la entidad
Bankia durante el periodo 2016-2020. Este consiste en realizar un
análisis financiero que indica el nivel de vulnerabilidad de la
entidad a partir de sus ratios de solvencia, calidad de los activos,
rentabilidad y liquidez.
Traditionally, financial institutions tried to avoid risk instead of facing it, this being the basis of the credit activity they carry out. For this reason, the 2008 economic crisis set off alarms in terms of risk measurement and management. It was then that the supervisory authorities launched a set of measures to create a stronger and more capable system that would be able to deal with similar situations in the future. In this work, reference is made to the importance of managing risk and to the evolution of this in the last five years in Spain. In addition, the CAMEL method is applied in the Bankia entity during the 2016-2020 period. This consists of carrying out a financial analysis that indicates the level of vulnerability of the entity based on its solvency ratios, asset quality, profitability and liquidity.
