ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE AT COMPULSORY EDUCATION: FOSTERING THE LEARNING TO LEARN COMPETENCE

Resumen
[ES]Puesto que no existen trabajos previos en los que se promueva de manera específica la
Competencia de aprender a aprender, se ha realizado este trabajo de investigación para
crear una unidad didáctica que fomente, a través de diversas actividades, esta
Competencia. Para ello se han investigado los enfoques de la enseñanza del inglés como
lengua extranjera de los últimos siglos y se han expuesto elementos clave para aprender a
aprender, como los conceptos de metacognición y de formación permanente. Además, se
ha planificado la unidad didáctica teniendo también en cuenta la necesidad de ver el
inglés como una herramienta de comunicación y se ha fomentado el aprendizaje
cooperativo.

[EN]Due to the lack of previous work in which the Learning to Learn Competence is specifically fostered, this paper has as its main aim the elaboration of a Lesson Plan which develops, through different activities, this Competence. To do so, the main approaches of the teaching of English as a foreign language in the last centuries have been investigated and the key elements to learn how to learn, such as metacognition or lifelong learning, have been exposed. Besides, the Lesson Plan has been drawn up taking into account the consideration of English as a tool for communication and the fostering of collaborative learning.
