Donación de progenitores hematopoyéticos procedentes del cordón umbilical.

Abstract

[ES] El trasplante de sangre de cordón umbilical es una opción terapéutica con una trascendencia cada vez mayor, ya que se trata de una sangre rica en progenitores hematopoyéticos y la recolección como el trasplante de estas posee varias ventajas con respecto a las otras fuentes. Nuestro objetivo del trabajo es describir los conceptos más importantes sobre el trasplante de progenitores hematopoyéticos, así como el procedimiento de recogida de SCU y describir las ventajas/desventajas de este método. Para ello hemos realizado una revisión bibliográfica narrativa-descriptiva, analizando la distinta bibliografía, artículos, documentos que tratan sobre la donación de progenitores hematopoyéticos. Resultando la descripción del procedimiento adecuado para la extracción de progenitores hematopoyéticos procedentes del cordón umbilical y sus ventajas/desventajas. Concluimos que la sangre del cordón umbilical es rica en progenitores hematopoyéticos y se ha convertido en una alternativa para la donación de estas células, debido a que posee varias ventajas sobre ellas.

[EN] Transplantation of umbilical cord blood is a therapeutic option with an increasing importance, since it is a blood rich in hematopoietic progenitors and the collection as the transplant of these have several advantages with respect to the other sources. Our objective is to describe the most important concepts regarding hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, as well as the SCU recognition procedure and to describe the advantages / disadvantages of this method. For this purpose a narrative-descriptive bibliographical review has been carried out, analyzing the different bibliography, articles, and documents that deal with the donation of hematopoietic progenitors. Result of the description of the procedure suitable for the extraction of haematopoietic progenitors from the umbilical cord and its advantages / disadvantages. We conclude that umbilical cord blood is rich in hematopoietic progenitors and has become an alternative for the donation of these cells, because it has several advantages over them.
