Los padres identificaban como fiebre una temperatura comprendida entre 37.5°C y 38°C;
asociándola a convulsiones febriles, daños cerebrales y deshidratación como principales efectos
adversos.
[EN]Fever in childhood is one of the most feared symptoms by parents, generating worry and stress in parents. The main reasons of fever morbidity in childhood are respiratory and gastrointestinal viral infections. It is recommended that management of fever is based in to maximize its immune benefits by making easier the comfort of the child preventing dehydration by dosing antipyretics and physical methods. Parents recognized as fever a temperature between 37.5°C y 38°C; they associated with fever: febrile seizures, brain damage and dehydration as major adverse effects. Parents preferred digital thermometer in the axillary area to assess temperature; and to manage of fever,administer antipyretics, acetaminophen and ibuprofen, and physical methods a complementary manner. Parents and caregivers’ level of knowledge about fever in childhood and how to deal with its management is insufficient, because they don’t know the correct definition of fever; they considered it harmful in itself.
