Resumen
[ES] La mejora de las técnicas diagnósticas y los avances en los tratamientos han hecho que la supervivencia de la población infantil con cáncer aumente notablemente en los últimos años, situándose alrededor del 70%. Sin embargo, el diagnóstico de esta enfermedad continua suponiendo un gran impacto para toda la familia, principal fuente de apoyo y cuidados, que genera grandes miedos, preocupaciones e inseguridades. El objetivo de este trabajo es diseñar un Programa de Educación para la Salud dirigido a padres y madres de pacientes infantiles con reciente diagnóstico de cáncer. Para ello se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica previa, se revisaron libros y guías y se consultó con familias afectadas y profesionales expertos con el fin de actualizar el tema y conocer todos los aspectos a tener en cuenta para incluir en el programa. El resultado es un programa compuesto por 5 sesiones grupales y una entrevista individual inicial cuyo propósito es ser una fuente de información y apoyo que permita desarrollar estrategias de afrontamiento y cuidados que mejoren su calidad de vida. Además, se elabora un sistema de evaluación para valorar la calidad del programa comprobando sus resultados y la opinión de sus miembros.
[EN] The improvement diagnostic techniques and advances in treatments has made the survival of children with cancer increased significantly in recent years, reaching around 70%. However, the diagnosis of this disease continues to pose a huge impact for the whole family, which is the main source of support and care, generating great fears, worries and insecurities. The aim of this work is to design an health education programme for parents of children with newly diagnosed cancer. A previous bibliographical search in major databases was performed, books and guides were reviewed and affected families as well as professional experts were also consulted in order to update the subject and all aspects to be considered for inclusion in the program. The result is a program consisting of five group sessions and an initial individual interview whose major aim is to be a source of information and support to develop coping strategies and care which improve their life standards. Moreover, an evaluation system was developed in order to assess program quality checking their results and its members' opinion.
