[EN] This piece of work deals with the study of production systems of businesses in three concerns. The first describes the production systems of a business as well as its most representative characteristics. In that chapter we mainly focus on the production system by projects and chain production systems. This chapter will be our theoretical foundation for a better understanding of the production process of businesses that are further developed in the following chapter. In the second section of our research we describe the production process of an Airbus diversified across a number of factories in Europe, with Puerto Real (Cádiz) as the nearest to us, as well as the chain production system of Ford cars in the factory of Almussafes (Valencia). In the third section we piece together theoretical research and practice in the two factories mentioned above and we offer students a study case by means of a number of questions on account of which we analyse the two production systems mentioned. In this business context we highlight the importance of tailoring the production system to the product we want to manufacture and the objective pursued, since we cannot manufacture in the same way a cheaper affordable car for the general public as we do when we manufacture an exclusive car, customised and with a high cost or, in this case, an Airbus. What really matters is that we adhere to the business targets and achieve productivity as planned.
