Evaluation of the tempo of a musical performance using music / score alignment with a database of interpretations for same work

Abstract

[EN] The main objective is the estimation of musical statistics such as beat time, tempo and duration applied to the development of a comparison system between musicians. The final objective of the work is to develop an application that allows the user to analyze the recording of their performance and compare it with another performance. Our application is based on four stages: training, alignment, extraction of musical statistics and comparison. We propose an alignment method, which allows estimating the audio-to-score alignment with a variable cost function guided by a regularization constant (λ). In addition, the algorithm that allows extracting musical statistics and a comparison system between performances have been developed. The development of the alignment algorithm has been carried out in MatLab, for tests, and in C, for the final application. And the other modules that make up the application are developed in MatLab.

[ES] El objetivo principal es la estimación de estadísticas musicales como tiempo de beat, tempo y duración aplicadas al desarrollo de un sistema de comparación entre músicos. El objetivo final del trabajo es desarrollar una aplicación que permita al usuario analizar la grabación de su actuación y compararse con otra interpretación. Nuestra aplicación se basa en cuatro etapas: entrenamiento, alineamiento, extracción de estadísticas musicales y comparación. En este trabajo proponemos un método de alineamiento, que permite estimar el alineamiento audio-partitura con una función de coste variable guiada por una constante de regularización (λ). Además, se han desarrollo el algoritmo que permite extraer las estadísticas musicales y un sistema de comparación entre interpretaciones. El desarrollo del algoritmo de alineamiento se ha llevado a cabo en MatLab, para pruebas, y en C, para la aplicación final. Y los demás módulos que componen la aplicación están desarrollados en MatLab.
