DINÁMICA DE LA INVERSIÓN DIRECTA ESPAÑOLA EN EL EXTERIOR EN EL SIGLO XXI. ESPECIAL REFERENCIA A ESTADOS UNIDOS

Abstract

[ES] El presente trabajo tiene por objeto el estudio de la evolución, a lo largo del siglo XXI, de los flujos de inversión directa española en el exterior, tratando asimismo la desinversión directa española en el exterior, dado el alto número de multinacionales españolas que han apostado fuertemente por este modo de internacionalización. Para ello se han utilizado las fuentes estadísticas DataInvex y UNCTAD. Del mismo modo, se analiza la distribución sectorial y geográfica de estos flujos, con especial referencia a Estados Unidos. Entre las conclusiones destaca el auge de la inversión directa española en el exterior en los años anteriores a la crisis económica, y su gran caída, así como el aumento de las desinversiones, en los años posteriores. El sector financiero y Reino Unido son los principales destinatarios de la inversión directa, y se mantiene la permanencia de las multinacionales españolas en Estados Unidos. [EN] The aim of this study is to examine the evolution, not only of the Spanish direct investment flows, but also of the direct disinvestment ones, into foreign countries over the 21st century. This question is central to the entire discipline since a large number of Spanish multinationals have been committed to this internationalization strategy. The research data is drawn from two main sources: DataInvex and UNCTAD. It is attempted to offer an analysis of the sectorial and geographical distribution of the investment flows, with particular reference to the United States. Overall, the results indicate that there was an outstanding increase of the Spanish direct foreign investment in the years preceding the economic crisis. On the contrary, disinvestments became the dominant tendency after that. It can be also concluded that both the financial sector and United Kingdom are the main target group of the Spanish direct foreign investment.
