Beneficios que el Método Canguro aporta a los recién nacidos prematuros y/o de bajo peso

Abstract

[ES]En la actualidad, la cifra de mortalidad y morbilidad de prematuros y recién nacidos de bajo peso es elevada. Distintas intervenciones van dirigidas a paliar esas cifras de morbimortalidad. Una de esas intervenciones es el Método Madre Canguro (MMC), que consiste en el contacto piel con piel entre el niño y su madre, y es un método eficaz, sencillo y económico. Los objetivos planteados han sido: analizar los beneficios que el método madre canguro aporta al niño prematuro y al recién nacido de bajo peso, y conocer aquellos beneficios que éste produce sobre la madre y el padre, para ello se han revisado diferentes bases de datos, y se han analizado 37 artículos, de los cuales se han obtenido diferentes resultados, y como conclusión se ha obtenido que este método tiene grandes beneficios a nivel fisiológico, psicológico y emocional tanto para los padres como para los hijos, aunque aún quedan por hacer estudios que expliquen el motivo de su poco uso.

[EN]At present, the number of mortality and morbidity in preterm and low birth weight is high. Different interventions are aimed at alleviating these morbidity and mortality rates. One of these interventions is the Mother Kangaroo Method (KMC), which consists of skin to skin contact between the child and his mother, and is an effective, simple and economical method. The objectives were: to analyze the benefits KMC contributes to the premature and low birth weight, and meet those benefits it produces on the mother and father, for this we have reviewed different databases, and 37 articles were analyzed, of which results were obtained and the conclusion was obtained that this method has great benefits to physiological, psychological and emotional level for both parents and children, although studies remain to be done to explain the reason for its limited use.
