destacando factores psicosociales y familiares.
[EN] Postpartum depression is a severe mental disorder characterized by depressive episodes and an absence of pleasure or interest in activities. It usually has a fluctuating course and it causes emotional lability. The disorder has a high prevalence (10-20%). The principal aim is to gain a deep insight of postpartum depression. Further to explore the principal risk factors and the main diagnostic methods and to investigate the treatments and the nursery role in this process. Postpartum depression has a complex etiology, consisting of many contributing factors, in which psychosocial and familial factors have been identified as significant. The most commonly sited diagnostic scale is the Edinburgh depression scale. Once diagnosed, the treatment is based on three key components: pharmacological, psychosocial and psychotherapeutic.
