Resumen
[ES]El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar los fundamentos de la sostenibilidad
aplicados a la planificación estratégica de un destino. El turismo aporta beneficios,
pero también puede generar importantes desequilibrios sociales, desgaste de los
recursos e
impactos económicos negativos, por lo que es necesario encontrar un equilibrio en la
puesta en marcha de iniciativas turísticas, capaces de optimizar la inversión y los
impactos positivos y dando respuesta a nuevas realidades, tales como la sostenibilidad
o el acceso a nuevas tecnologías que otorga un mayor poder a los turistas. El Plan ha
de ser un documento que sirva de hoja de ruta, conocido y accesible para todos los
agentes implicados en el sector, y que tenga en cuenta los diferentes ámbitos: social,
en el que la población ha de ser la principal beneficiaria del mismo; económico, ya que
ha de suponer un motor de crecimiento; y medioambiental, al comprometerse a usar
los recursos de una manera eficiente, que no comprometa su disponibilidad futura.

[EN]The objective of this paper is to analyze the fundamentals of sustainability applied to the strategic planning of a destination. Tourism brings benefits, but it can also generate significant social imbalances, resource wasting and negative economic impacts, so it is necessary to find a balance in the implementation of tourism initiatives, capable of optimizing investment and positive impacts, responding to new realities, such as sustainability or access to new technologies that gives tourists greater power. Plan must be a document that serves as a roadmap, known and accessible to all the stakeholders involved in the sector, and that takes into account the different areas: social, in which the population must be the main beneficiary of it; economic, since it has to be a growth engine; and environmental, by committing to use resources efficiently, not compromising future availability.
