[EN] OBJETIVES: To evaluate the effectiveness of eccentric type exercise in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome, based on evidence found in the literature. METHODOLOGY: We conducted an electronic search of randomized clinical trials published between 2012 to date, in the PubMed, PEDro, Scopus and CINAHL databases; With the terms "eccentric", "subacromial impingement", "rotator cuff", "shoulder" and "shoulder impingement". Methodological quality was assessed using PEDro scale. RESULTS: Eccentric exercise is effective in the treatment of subacromial impingement syndrome, especially when it combines with other therapy. CONCLUSION: Seven trials were included, with a score ranging from 6 to 8 on the PEDro scale. All analyzed the effectiveness of eccentric exercise isolated or combined with other therapies. The results showed positive effects in the symptomatology, but no more than other treatments when studied separately
