El cáncer de mama en hombres es un fenómeno atípico, diferente al cáncer de mama en la contraparte femenina, constituyendo menos del 1% de todos los tumores de mama. El pronóstico del cáncer de mama en hombres parece ser peor en la población masculina, que en la femenina, aun encontrándose en el mismo estadio, y es el diagnóstico tardío el que reduce las posibilidades de supervivencia. El diagnóstico está basado en: Evaluación clínica, mamografía, ecografía y biopsia. El tratamiento del cáncer de mama en hombres, se ha extrapolado de los estudios existentes en la población femenina, debido al número limitado de casos, toda la evidencia existente procede de la literatura en mujeres. En este trabajo se desarrolló un plan de cuidados individualizado, adaptado a un varón de 39 años con cáncer de mama en evolución metatásica, en tratamiento actual con Quimioterapia.
