Tratamiento de la hemiplejia post-accidente cerebrovascular con terapia de espejo

Abstract

[ES] Introducción. El accidente cerebrovascular (ACV) es una patología que crea discapacidad con un elevado coste sanitario. La terapia de espejo (MT) es una técnica conservadora y de bajo coste. Objetivo. Determinar la eficacia de MT en el tratamiento de la hemiplejia post-ACV. Material y métodos. Se realizaron búsquedas bibliográficas en PubMed, utilizando “STROKE” AND “MIRROR THERAPY”, “POSTSTROKE” AND “MIRROR THERAPY” y “HEMIPLEGIA” AND “MIRROR THERAPY”. Los estudios debían ser ensayos clínicos aleatorizados, con alta calidad metodológica, publicados en los últimos 3 años. Resultados. Las variables actividades vida diaria, destreza manual, función motora, espasticidad, función sensorial, discapacidad motora, rango de movimiento, características temporoespaciales marcha, recuperación motora, calidad de vida, negligencia unilateral y visuoespacial, dolor, tono muscular y rigidez, habilidades motoras, equilibrio, control motor y movilidad mejoraron. Conclusión. De acuerdo a los resultados incluidos en este trabajo, se puede concluir que MT alcanza resultados positivos en las variables estudiadas a corto y largo plazo.

[EN] Background. Stroke is a pathology which causes a greater level of impairment, with high hospitalizations costs. Mirror Therapy (MT) is a conservative and low cost technique. Objective. To confirm the effectiveness of MT in hemiplegia post-stroke’s treatment. Methods. We searched the PubMed database using the following key words: “STROKE” AND “MIRROR THERAPY”, “POSTSTROKE” AND “MIRROR THERAPY” y “HEMIPLEGIA” AND “MIRROR THERAPY”. Studies should be randomized trials with high methodological quality and published within the last 3 years. Results. A general improvement was observed in the variables daily function, manual dexterity, motor function, spasticity, sensory function, motor impairment, range of movement, temporospatial gait characteristics, motor recovery, quality of life, unilateral and visuospatial neglect, pain, changes in muscle tone and muscle stiffness, motor skills, balance, motor control and mobility function. Conclusion. According to the results of the studies, we can conclude that MT shows positive results in a short and long term for the studied variables.
