Terapia manual y propiocepcion en el sindrome del dolor patelofemoral. Revision sistematica.

Resumen
[ES] El síndrome de dolor patelofemoral (SDPF) es una de las causas más frecuentes de dolor anterior de rodilla y es uno de los diagnósticos más comunes en la población joven.
Objetivo: Revisar la eficacia de la propiocepción y de la terapia manual en el tratamiento de SDPF.
Métodos: Se realizó una extensa búsqueda de la literatura en las bases de datos de Pubmed, PEDro además de Intramed. Esta revisión incluyó todos los artículos desde el año 2005 hasta 2016. Se introdujeron palabras clave como “proprioception” o “manual therapy”.
Resultados: Se localizaron 1131 artículos de los que se seleccionaron 16. Se analizaron los efectos de las diferentes técnicas de terapia manual y propiocepción, además de otros tratamientos como estimulación eléctrica o cirugía. Se encontraron efectos positivos sobre la funcionalidad y reducción de dolor en cada uno de los tratamientos. Igualmente se encontraron efectos positivos en cuanto a la calidad de vida o en la combinación de varios tipos de tratamiento.
Conclusión: Los diferentes tipos de tratamiento revisados pueden ser efectivos para pacientes con síndrome de dolor patelofemoral, especialmente la terapia manual y propiocepción.
[EN] Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the most frequent causes of anterior knee pain and it is one of the most frequent diagnostics in adolescents. Objective: to review the efficacy of proprioception and manual therapy in the treatment of patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). Methods: An extensive literature search was performed in databases of Pubmed or PEDro also Intramed. This review included all articles published during 2005 to 2016. Keywords were introduced as “proprioception” or “manual therapy”. Outcomes: 1131 articles were located, 16 of which were selected. The effects of different techniques of manual therapy and proprioception were analyzed, in addition to other types of treatments such as electrical stimulation or surgery. Positive effects on functionality and pain reduction have been found in each of treatments. In the same way, positive effects have been found in quality of life or in the combination of several types of treatment. Conclusion: The different types of treatment may be effective for patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome, especially manual therapy and proprioception.
