[EN] Childbirth is a unique moment that marks the end of gestation. It is a tremendously studied and integrated process in our health system. In recent years, it has become a tremendously medicalized process that has led many women to seek more natural and less interventionist alternatives. The figures support this fact and that while overall birth rates are falling, out-of-hospital and health care figures increase. In this context the practice of Lotus Birth is felt, a different way of understanding the process of labor that binds in leaving the umbilical cord uncut, so that the baby is attached to the placenta until the cord naturally detaches of the navel. The main background of this practice is spiritual in nature, and there is no evidence that it produces benefits as such.
