investigaciones.
[EN] Introduction: Postpartum depression appears because after delivery women generate a series of hormonal imbalances; that usually resolves between the first and second postpartum days. However, in a woman that suffers with postpartum depression this hormonal imbalance is not resolved and also we have to add the difñculties of coping with the new "role of mother". The treatment of depression mainly consists of pharmacological therapy and psychotherapy (it constitutes the main treatment in all kinds of depression), however, there are also alternative and / or complementary therapies that are demanded by a large number of mothers, especially mothers who carry out the lactation themselves. This work focuses mainly on alternative and or complementary therapies, given the prevalence of this disease, the serious consequences this disorder can lead to and the refusal to pharmacological therapy shown by some mothers. ºbjectives: The main objective of this review is to describe alternative and / or complementary therapies for postpartum depression and their usefulness. Methodology: This work is a secondary study, particularly a bibliographic narrative review. A search has been made both nationally and internationally, including articles related to treatment in postpartum depression, more specifically, alternative and / or complementary therapies. Results: A total of 20 articles were selected in which various information was collected about depression and the impact of alternative therapies on depression. Conclusions: Despite the results shown in the studies, all of them conclude that more information and research is needed.
