El periodo seleccionado para su posterior revisión han sido los últimos 20 años. Se indagará en su definición, los acontecimientos ocurridos a lo largo de su historia, los distintos tipos de sinestesia descubiertas hasta la fecha, su prevalencia en la población, cómo la genética ha influenciado sobre éste fenómeno, la aparición de modelos que postulaban y defendían hipótesis a lo largo de su historia. Por otra parte, se revisará su diagnóstico y como se miden estas experiencias, así como el impacto provocado en la neurociencia. Con el objetivo final de poder conocer y comprender cómo perciben el mundo con los sentidos.In the present study a theoretical review will be carried out on synesthesia, a phenomenon studied for more than 200 years until the present time. The period selected for further review has been the last 20 years.
