El Parque Natural de Sierra Mágina cuenta con unas características bióticas y abióticas con valor científico, turístico y didáctico, que vienen recogidas en sus herramientas de gestión y protección del Plan de Ordenación de los Recursos Naturales (PORN) y en el Plan Rector de Uso y Gestión (PRUG). Normalmente la valoración del patrimonio geológico en el PORN y el PRUG tiene una jerarquía inferior al resto de características del medio natural, lo que convendría cambiar debido a la relación que tienen con los factores implicados en la cultura, sociedad, medio ambiente y economía.[EN] A Protected Natural Area aims to adjust its uses and activities to the conservation and protection of natural resources where the geological heritage plays a very important role.
