La escultura en nuestro país, desde el estilo románico hasta el barroco, con diferentes normas y características, ha contribuido a esa enseñanza visual, narrativa y teatral. En definitiva, a una predicación visual a lo largo del medievo y la Edad Moderna.The sculpture, in this case, the religious one, has not only served for the ornamentation of a sacred and spiritual interior, but its primary function has contributed, especially, to didactics, to the doctrinal teaching of the Spanish people, which in centuries past was mostly illiterate.
