En este trabajo se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica utilizando diferentes bases de datos. Diversos estudios coinciden que el mecanismo por el que se origina esta disfunción, no está del todo claro, pero se habla de una afinidad entre distintos tipos celulares que expresan en sus membranas receptores ACE2 y TMPRSS2 con las proteínas S virales, siendo el principal mecanismo de entrada del virus. De esta forma se dice que la cavidad nasal es un importante reservorio para el virus. Además, se plantean una prevalencia mayor en pacientes jóvenes y mujeres. Finalmente, se concluye una posible relación entre la anosmia y el COVID19, aunque se deberá investigar más a fondo, en estudios futuros.There is increasing scientific evidence that points the loss of smell / taste to one more symptom caused by COVID19, therefore it is necessary to know the viral characteristics, invasion mechanisms such as prevalence, prognosis and treatment of anosmia. In this work, a bibliographic review has been carried out using different databases. Several studies agree that the mechanism by which this dysfunction originates is not entirely clear, but there is talk of an affinity between different cell types that express ACE2 and TMPRSS2 receptors on their membranes with viral S proteins, being the main mechanism of entry of the virus. In this way, the nasal cavity is said to be an important reservoir for the virus. In addition, there is a higher prevalence in young patients and women.
