Metodología: En las investigaciones revisadas, basándonos principalmente en las bases de datos de PsycInfo y Scopus, hemos encontrado los principales hallazgos clínicos referentes a tDCS, desde la mejora en la sintomatología depresiva, hasta la influencia del cambio del montaje de los electrodos en el tratamiento, así como algunos beneficios adicionales. Finalmente se han revisado estudios que han analizado si el tratamiento de depresión mayor con tDCS mejora o no junto con antidepresivos .Conclusiones: tDCS ha demostrado ser, en base a la bibliografía revisada, una potencial alternativa o complemento para el tratamiento en depresión, ya que ha demostrado tener efectos terapéuticos, y ser un perfecto acompañamiento al tratamiento farmacológicoIntroduction: In this theoretical literature review, we will discuss the development and discovery of the transcranial direct current stimulation technique as a treatment for major depressive disorder. Methodology: In the studies reviewed, based mainly on databases PsycInfo and Scopus, we found the main clinical findings regarding tDCS, from the improvement in depressive symptoms, to the influence of the change of the electrode montage in the treatment, as well as some additional benefits.
