Its main objetivres are: underline the importance of mass extinctions in an evolutionary context; acquire the basic knowledge of extinction events of the past, specifically natural proccesses acting with a higher intensity than usual in short time spans, as well as gain an understanding of the importance of the different time scales and the changes that occur in Nature. A descripción of the most important mass extinctions in the Earth's history along with their probable causes has been carried out.
