Se ha considerado los inhibidores selectivos de la recaptación de serotonina (ISRS) un tratamiento efectivo para el SPM y TDPM. El objetivo de la presente revisión es explorar la eficacia de estos fármacos para reducir los síntomas propios de tales afecciones. Para dar respuesta al objetivo planteado, se ha realizado una búsqueda bibliográfica en tres bases de datos y se han obtenido un total de 539 artículos, seleccionando finalmente 9 artículos que cumplían los criterios de selección establecidos en este trabajo. A partir de los resultados de los estudios revisados se puede concluir que los ISRS son eficaces para el tratamiento de los síntomas del SPM y/o TDPM, especialmente de los psicológicos y entre estos para la irritabilidad.A large number of women experience menstrual conditions such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS) or premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) during reproductive age. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) have been considered an effective treatment for PMS and PMDD. The aim of this review is to explore the effectiveness of these drugs in reducing the symptoms of these conditions.
