Resumen
El presente trabajo discute el empleo de las controversias socio-científicas como recurso didáctico para el
desarrollo de la competencia científica del alumnado de Educación Primaria. El enfoque metodológico
empleado promueve la indagación, la participación en los debates públicos sobre temáticas controvertidas y la
toma de decisiones fundamentadas, y a su vez, fomenta el conocimiento de contenidos curriculares clave y la
comprensión de la naturaleza de la ciencia y la tecnología. Asimismo, fomenta la formación de futuros
ciudadanos capaces de contribuir a la mejora de su entorno y al desarrollo de un modelo de innovación
responsable, con especial atención al respeto del medio ambiente. Se trata, por tanto, de una apuesta por un
proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje científico, motivador e innovador, que pretende asimismo impulsar la
interdisciplinariedad, lo que resulta, a priori, apasionante de cara a su planteamiento en el centro de Educación
Primaria.
The present work discusses the use of socio-scientific issues as a didactic resource to promote scientific competences in the science classroom at Primary Education. The methodological approach facilitates inquiry, the active participation in socio-scientific debates and informed decision making, and in turn, promoting the acquisition of curricular content knowledge and a better understanding of science and technology. As a result it will contribute to the education of future citizens able to cooperate to the improvement of their environment and, in turn, bet on a responsible innovation model, with special attention to respect for the environment. It is, therefore, a commitment to a process of teaching and learning scientific, motivating and innovative, intended to promote interdisciplinary learning, which is a valuable approach in the primary school level.
