[EN]Money arose out of the need for trade, but soon the human being realized that it was something valuable. In this work we will show that value by analyzing the different forms that money has taken throughout history. In ancient times people had simple lives and subsisted without consumption or leisure, as we know them today. However, in the digital and globalization era, the value of money resides in those who can monopolize most of the transactions to achieve profitability in the different means of payment. Money has helped progress in all areas, but the power that it implies in the hands of governments, large companies and banks, which finance their projects, has brought inequalities between nations and damaging consequences for the environment that we can still repair.
