Impacto emocional de la cibervictimización

Abstract

El ciberacoso es un fenómeno que está despertando mayor preocupación social en los últimos años debido al aumento de la participación de la juventud. Todavía hay pocos trabajos sobre el cyberbullying y las consecuencias derivadas de este. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el impacto emocional que provoca, en las víctimas, este fenómeno. La muestra estuvo formada por 652 estudiantes (49,5% mujeres y 50,5% hombres) de entre 13 y 20 años (M= 15.92; DT=1.253) de 7 centros de Educación Secundaria de Andalucía. Los resultados muestran diferencias significativas en el impacto emocional en función de la severidad del cyberbullying puntuando las víctimas severas, en comparación con las ocasionales, más alto en emociones negativas (p.e., tristeza, depresión, indefensión). También señalan que las chicas muestran puntuaciones más altas en este tipo de emociones y los chicos puntuaciones más altas en emociones relacionadas con la activación (p.e. animada, enérgico, activo) en relación al impacto de la cibervictimización. Por último, no aparecen diferencias significativas en impacto emocional en función del tipo de victimización (cibervíctimas vs. ciberagresores victimizados).

Cyberbullying is a phenomenon, which is receiving more social attention in recent years due to the increase of the participation of young people. There are still few studies on cyberbullying and the consequences deriving from this. The main objective of this study was to analyze the emotional impact of it on victims. The participants were 652 students (49.5% female and 50.5% male) between 13 and 20 years (M = 15.92, SD = 1.253) of 7 High schools from Andalusia. The results have found significant differences in emotional impact depending on the severity of cyber bullying, showing the severe victims, compared to those occasional ones, higher levels of negative emotions (i.e. sad, depression, defenselessness). Additionally, it point out that girls have higher levels of these kind of emotions and boys higher levels of emotions related to activation (i.e., energetic, cheerful, active) in relation to cyber victimization impact. Finally, there wasn’t found significant differences in the emotional impact of victimization depending on the type of victimization (just cyber victims vs. cyber bully-­‐victim).
