La soledad es una realidad que afecta a personas de todas las edades, pero especialmente a la población mayor. En los últimos años, la sociedad española ha experimentado un fenómeno de envejecimiento progresivo. En España, muchas personas mayores de 65 años son vulnerables a la soledad y, esto afecta, no sólo a su estado de salud, sino también a todos los ámbitos de su vida cotidiana. Las personas mayores, debido a diferentes factores como sus características personales, sociales y laborales, entre otros, tienen un mayor riesgo de experimentar aislamiento y soledad. A raíz de la pandemia por COVID-19, la situación de soledad de las personas mayores se ha visto bastante agravada. Ante esta realidad, el Trabajo Social, ha asumido un papel prioritario, implementando diversas acciones y poniendo en marcha recursos y servicios destinados a mejorar la calidad de vida de este colectivo
Loneliness is a reality that affects people of all ages, but especially the elderly population. In recent years, Spanish society has experienced a phenomenon of progressive aging. In Spain, many people over the age of 65 are vulnerable to loneliness, and this affects not only their state of health but also all areas of their daily lives. Older people, due to different factors such as their personal, social and occupational characteristics, among others, are at greater risk of experiencing isolation and loneliness. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation of loneliness among the elderly has worsened considerably. Faced with this reality, Social Work has assumed a priority role, implementing various actions and putting in place resources and services aimed at improving the quality of life of this group
