The aim of this bibliographic review is to show, through a unified and schematic way, the different and multiple advantages of the use of the “green o herbaceous cover” in olive farming systems. An exhaustive research of scientific and informative articles some databases has been achieved as well as in publications of Public Administrations in order to gather as much information as possible and to be able to give a study that analyzes all the agronomic variables in which implantation of that green cover have influence as well as the way does so. Articles found have showed to be in accordance with positive consequences soil management offers: i) Reduction of erosion, thanks to the fact soil is protected from the effect of rain and water runoff can be stopped; ii) increase the biodiversity and complexity of the olive grove, iii) increase the capacity for micro-climate, pH and cation exchange capacity regulation, among others, and iv) increase the retention and recirculation of nutrients in the olive grove . In addition, the temporary spontaneous cover crop plays a prominent role in the local economy and society and is a key element in the growing sector of oleoturism
