Resumen
Este trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar un análisis sobre la situación que ha vivido una de las instituciones con mayor trascendencia dentro del panorama de la Unión Europea: el Parlamento. Con él quiero llevar a cabo un aná lisis
comparativo de la institución del Parlamento europeo a través de dos períodos históricos muy diferentes de su historia reciente: el período anterior a las elecciones de 1979, momento en elque elsistema de sufragio activo se modifica
pasa ndo de un sistema sufragista universal indirecto a otro directo,y el posterior a las mismas, todo ello pasando por un breve análisis histórico de la formación del propio Parlamento.
Dado que en la perspectiva de la Unión Europea el Parlamento no es el único organismo de relevancia, haré hincapié en elConsejo y la Comisión,centrándome en aspectos como la Presidencia de ambas instituciones o cual es su papel en la función legislativa.
This work, entitled 'The Democratization of the lnstitutions of the European Union, wants to provide a broader view of what status of the institutions of the European Union have today. On the one hand,1'11 review the historicalsituation that has passed the Parliament to consolidate itself as the institution we know today, noting the treaties that have been signed and the reforms that have been carried out. Subsequently, to examine the situation of the European Parliament in two very different periods of recent history: befare the elections to the Parliament in 1979 and the situation llved once these elections occur. 1 also made an study of the other two important institutions in European Union: the Council and the Commission
