Resumen
[ES] En este trabajo veremos cómo se ha desarrollado el proceso de
reestructuración de las cajas de ahorros durante los años 2009 y
2015, que ha llevado a muchas de estas entidades a ceder su
negocio financiero a un banco y a transformarse en fundaciones
bancarias u otro tipo de entidades. Algunas de las razones y
problemas que han provocado la reestructuración han sido: el
excesivo peso en activos imnobiliarios, dificultades para aumentar
los recursos propios o incremento de la morosidad. Para solucionar
los distintos desequilibrios, el Gobierno español ha aprobado una
serie de disposiciones como la creación FROB, modificaciones
legales para la concentración de entidades o la asistencia
financiera externa. Todas estas reformas han contribuido al
saneamiento del sistema bancario español, pero han supuesto la
casi desaparición de las cajas de ahmrns que han pasado de 46 en
2009 a solo 2 en 2015.
[EN] In this paper, we analyze the restructuring of process of the Spanish Savings banks from 2009 to 2015. The Savings banks had to give their financials business to banks and they had to turn into bank foundation or others companies. The reasons and problems of these companies have been: overinvestment in real estate assets; difficulties in raising social capital and the mcrease of the defaulting. The Spanish Government has approved sorne laws to sol ve these problems such as the creation of the FROB, the change of the law to merge companies or the financia! assistance from the European Union. These changes have solved the problerns of the Spanish bank systern. However, in 2009, there were 46 Savings banks and nowadays there are only 2, so these cornpanies have alrnost disappeared in our country.
