Pollution of aquatic systems by antibiotics has become a serious threat. This problem affects human health, as they cannot be eliminated in treatment plants. As a result, a spread of resistant genes is occurring in ecosystems. In the present work, a systematic review has been carried out in the last ten years in which 16 documents have been selected, compiling the information through narrative synthesis. These have focused on informing about the areas where resistance to antibiotics appears, the effects caused to the aquatic environment and on recovery and mitigation strategies. However, information on the impact on human health is still very scarce. Finally, the present work shows the existence of scientific evidence of the studied problem, as well as the lack of effective measures to mitigate it.
