ANÁLISIS ENVOLVENTE DE DATOS: LA EFICIENCIA DEL SECTOR BANCARIO ESPAÑOL

Abstract

Este trabajo sobre técnicas de análisis de eficiencia aplicado al sector bancario pretende, a través de la selección de los bancos con mayor facturación en España en el año 2018, encontrar qué bancos son eficientes y cuáles no, mediante el análisis envolvente de datos (DEA). Primero se realiza una aproximación al concepto de eficiencia, tipos y métodos de análisis de eficiencia que existen. Posteriormente se describe el sector bancario español, su evolución reciente tras la crisis económica y financiera iniciada en 2007-2008 y se repasan los problemas y retos que presentan en la actualidad. Para terminar, se aplicará el método DEA a través del software informático DEA Solver a la muestra seleccionada y se comentarán los resultados obtenidos. This project about efficiency analysis techniques applied to the banking sector pretends, through the selection of the banks with the highest invoicing in Spain in 2018, to find which banks are efficient and which are not, by means of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). First, a closeness is made to the concept of efficiency, types and methods of efficiency analysis that exist. Subsequently, the Spanish banking sector is described, its recent evolution after the economic and financial crisis that started in 2007-2008, and the current problems and challenges are reviewed. To finish, the DEA method will be applied through the DEA Solver computer software to the selected sample and the results obtained will be discussed.
