[EN]The interaction between humans and animals offers both personal and communitarian potential benefits, which leads to an increase in popularity of Animal Assisted Interventions, aiming to facilitate de human-animal bond. Scoping the diverse typology of intervention, the Prison based Animal Programmes (PAP’s), are recently gaining academic relevance. This article presents the design of an Equine Facilitated Prison based Programme to the promotion of non-violent relationships for gender offenders. Expected results, suggest that this typology of intervention can increase emotional stability, social and communication skills, coping strategies and sense of responsibility; all of which are key protective factors in the approach to gender violence in relational dynamics.
