descriptores epicondylitis, injection, tennis elbow and corticosteroid.
[EN] Aim: to prove the efficacy of corticosteroid injection as lateral epicondylitis treatment. Methods: a bibliographic search of RCAs was performed in Pubmed, PEDro and WOS using the descriptors epicondylitis, injection, tennis elbow and corticosteroid. The articles had to compare corticosteroid injection with other kind of treatment. PEDro scale was used to evaluate the quality of the studies. Results: a total of 471 articles were found but only 10 passed the inclusion criteria. These ten articles were divided in two groups. Pain, function and in some articles, grip strength were the study variables to value the improvement. Conclusion: corticosteroid injection demonstrates to be very effective in the short term, but in the long term corticosteroid injection is not better than other kind of treatment seen in this review
