El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo concienciar y resaltar la presencia de la comunidad sorda en la educación. Más concretamente, en la enseñanza del inglés como lengua extranjera. Para ello, este trabajo incluye una breve base epistemológica acerca de los aspectos clave relacionados con esta discapacidad, tanto en el ámbito biológico como en el educativo. Con estos conceptos como base, esta investigación propone una unidad didáctica diseñada específicamente para un grupo de estudiantes en el que se incluyen varios casos de discapacidad auditiva. El objetivo primordial es incrementar la visibilidad de esta comunidad en la sociedad, al mismo tiempo que se educa a los estudiantes en una atmósfera plural y heterogénea.
This piece of research aims at raising awareness and visibility of the deaf community within education. More specifically, the teaching of English as a foreign language. For this purpose, a brief epistemological basis is included, which gathers the most relevant aspects related to this disability, both in a biological and in an educational sphere. Secondly, having these precepts as a base, a teaching unit is proposed for an inclusive group of students, among which there are several cases of hearing impairment. The main objective is to increase this community’s visibility within society, as well as educating students in a plural and heterogeneous atmosphere.
