The increase in life expectancy of the population has increased the number of dependent people in need of informal care. The aim of this literature review was to find out about the health consequences of caregiving for caregivers. We have observed how anxiety and stress have been present in the majority of carers, leading to persistent illnesses, limiting their leisure time, their social relationships and putting aside their paid work to devote themselves to caregiving. In the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been observed that care work has been critical and that stress and anxiety have increased. In addition, the role of the male carer has become more prominent, but this has not been enough, as it has become clear that women are still the main carers today
