“Impulsividad y búsqueda de sensaciones en adolescentes”

Abstract

El presente trabajo pretende estudiar las relaciones entre la impulsividad, la búsqueda de sensaciones, las diferencias en género y edad, así como un análisis de las situaciones más comunes entre los adolescentes impulsivos y buscadores de sensaciones. Para ello, se emplea la escala de Impulsividad de Barratt (BIS-11) y la escala de Búsqueda de sensaciones (SSS-V). Los participantes han sido 190 adolescentes entre 14 y 20 años de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y Bachillerato. En general, los resultados han mostrado que no existen diferencias entre la impulsividad y género pero sí con la búsqueda de sensaciones. No se observa un descenso a lo largo de la edad y sí se demuestra que la impulsividad correlaciona con la búsqueda de sensaciones. Por tanto, se concluye que es de gran importancia el estudio de estas características con el fin de desarrollar programas de prevención y/o intervención para ciertos problemas conductuales y psicopatológicos entre los adolescentes.

The present work studies the relationship between the "impulsivity" and "sensation seeking"; the differences in gender and age; and an analysis of the most common situations among impulsive adolescents and sensation seekers. All this using Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11) and Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS-V). The participants were 190 adolescents between 14 and 20 years old of High School and A-levels. In general, the results have shown that there are not differences between the impulsiveness and gender but there is a difference with the sensations seeking and gender. The total evidence did not show a decline during the adolescence. Finally, it is shown that the three types of impulsivity are related to each other with the sensation seeking; therefore, there is a relationship between both variables. In conclusion, it is very important the study of these characteristics to develop prevention and/or intervention programs for behavioral problems and psychopathological among adolescents.
