Resumen
El presente Trabajo Fin de Máster tiene como principal objetivo utilizar la novela gráfica como recurso literario para el aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera en 4º de la ESO. Esta memoria se divide en dos partes: en la primera parte se expone una breve contextualización de la historia de Irlanda junto a las obras literarias más características de cada época. Además, se define el concepto de novela gráfica y se describen las ventajas y desventajas de su uso en el aula. En la segunda parte, se presenta una propuesta de unidad didáctica basada en la novela gráfica At War With the Empire: Ireland's Fight for Independence de Gerry Hunt (2012) y con la que se pretende desarrollar cada una de las destrezas comunicativas.
The main objective of this Master's thesis is to use graphic novels as a literary resource for learning English as a foreign language in the 4th year of ESO. This paper is divided into two parts: in the first part, a brief contextualisation of the history of Ireland is presented together with the most characteristic literary works of each period. In addition, the concept of the graphic novel is defined and the advantages and disadvantages of its use in the classroom are described. The second part presents a proposed teaching unit based on the graphic novel At War With the Empire: Ireland's Fight for Independence by Gerry Hunt (2012) and aims to develop each of the communicative skills.
