El arte colonial y su proyección en la explosición Ibero-Americana de Sevilla (1929)

Abstract

[ES]Desde la celebración de las primeras exposiciones universales, las ciudades se dieron cuenta de la importancia que para su economía, urbanismo o infraestructuras tenían la celebración de este tipo de eventos, y Sevilla no fue ajena a esto. A pesar de todos los problemas sociales, políticos y económicos por los que atravesó (no sólo la ciudad, sino España y la gran mayoría de los países de Hispanoamérica), la ciudad hispalense consiguió en el año 1929 celebrar una Exposición Iberoamericana en la que doce países del Nuevo Mundo participaron con pabellones individuales en los que mostraron lo mejor de su industria, comercio, cultura, bellas artes, etc. En estas instalaciones, los arquitectos trataron de mostrar muchas de las maravillas que encerraban tanto el arte prehispánico como el arte colonial. En el estudio detallado de esos pabellones hemos tratado de sacar a la luz las influencias más significativas del arte americano.

[EN]Since the celebration of the earliest universal exhibitions, cities realized the importance of the celebration of this kind of events had for their economy, urban planning and infrastructure. And Seville didn't take this for granted. In spite of all the political, social and economical problems that the city was supporting, and not only the city, but Spain and the majority of the countries in Spanish America, the city of Seville got, in the year of 1929, to celebrate an Ibero‐American Exhibition in which twelve countries from the New World, participated with individual pavilions where they showed the best from their industry, trade, culture, arts, etc. In these sets, the architects tried to show many of the wonders included in pre‐Hispanic and colonial art, and in a detailed study of these sets, we have tied to take out to light their most relevant influences.
