Efectividad de la acupuntura en el tratamiento de la migraña

Abstract

[ES] Introducción: La migraña es una cefalea que afecta del 12% al 16% de la población general, considerándose como una alteración incapacitante y con un gran impacto tanto en las actividades laborales, sociales y familiares y que puede conllevar un consumo elevado de fármacos. Por estos motivos, encontramos en la acupuntura una terapia eficaz para la migraña. Objetivo: Identificar y analizar la información disponible acerca de la efectividad de la acupuntura en el tratamiento de la migraña. Metodología: Se han realizado búsquedas bibliográficas tanto en bases de datos nacionales como internacionales, seleccionando los estudios que utilizaban la acupuntura para el tratamiento de la migraña. Resultados: Se ha seleccionado cumpliendo los criterios de inclusión 32 artículos en los que se aborda la efectividad de la acupuntura en pacientes con migraña. Conclusiones: Si bien la falta de investigación supone una limitación importante, los estudios publicados ponen de manifiesto que la acupuntura es una terapia eficaz y segura en el tratamiento de la migraña.

[EN] Introduction: Migraine is a headache that affects 12% to 16% of the general population, considered as a disabling alteration and with a great impact both in the labor, social and family activities and that can lead to a high consumption of drugs. For these reasons, we find in the complementary care acupuncture as an effective therapy in the treatment of migraine. Objective: The main objective of this work is to identify and analyze the available information about the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of migraine. Methodology: Bibliographic searches have been carried out in both national and international databases, selecting those studies that used acupuncture in patients with migraine. Results: We selected 32 articles that met the inclusion criteria and addressed the effectiveness of acupuncture in patients with migraine. Conclusions: Although lack of research is a major limitation, published studies show that acupuncture is an effective and safe therapy in the treatment of migraine.
