An Introductory Study of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) in TEFL

Abstract

[ES] El presente trabajo está basado, en su mayoría, en los enfoques conocidos como Aprendizaje Basado en Proyectos (ABP) y Aprendizaje Integrado de Contenidos y Lenguas Extranjeras (AICLE). Ambas están, de alguna manera, relacionadas en términos del reconocido paradigma constructivismo, el cual habilita a los estudiantes ser el centro del proceso de aprendizaje. También queremos señalar las conexiones que existen entre ABP y AICLE para así sugerir algunas implementaciones teóricas dentro del marco educativo. Para confirmar las posibles y positivas conexiones entre ambos enfoques, nos gustaría ir desde los contenidos básicos tales como: qué es AICLE, qué es ABP, formas para implementar ambos enfoques, la situación del inglés en la educación primaria; hasta una conclusión final que establezca cómo: AICLE y ABP tienen una intersección posible donde ambas contribuyan a mejorar el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.

[EN] This work is based, mostly, in the approaches known as Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Content and Language lntegrated Learning (CLIL) . Both are, somehow, related in terms of the well-known paradigm constructivism, which enables the students to be centre of the learning process. We also want to outline the connections that exist between PBL and CLIL in arder to suggest sorne theoretical implementations in the educative framework. In arder to confirm the possible and positive connections between the two approaches, we would like to go from basic contents such as: what CLIL is, what PBL is, ways to implement both approaches, the situation of English in Primary Education; to a final conclusion that states how: CLIL and PBL have a possible intersection where they contribute to improve the teaching-learning process.
