RELACIÓN ENTRE VARIABLES FÍSICAS Y LA MADUREZ INTELECTUAL DE NIÑOS DE EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL: UNA PROPUESTA DE JUEGOS INTEGRADOS EN CLASE

Abstract

[ES]El objetivo fue analizar la asociación entre variables físicas y la madurez intelectual en niños de educación infantil. La muestra estaba formada por 55 niños (30 chicas y 25 chicos) de 57,53 ± 3,42 meses de edad. El nivel de actividad física se extrajo a través de preguntas a los padres en el test sociodemográfico que se les paso. La madurez intelectual se evaluó mediante test del dibujo de la figura humana de Goodenough. Como covariables se usaron la edad, sexo y el nivel educativo de la madre. Aunque los análisis de correlación muestran que la actividad física se correlaciona con niveles más bajos de madurez intelectual, tras ajustar por covariables la asociación desaparece. Pese a estos hallazgos, hay estudios que sí demuestran una asociación positiva. Se sugiere una propuesta de juegos integrados en las clases de educación infantil.

[EN]The aim of the present study was to analyze the association between physical variables and intellectual maturity in preschool children. The sample consisted of 55 children (30 girls and 25 boys) of 57.53 ± 3.42 months of age. The level of physical activity was extracted through questions to the parents in the sociodemographic test that was passed to them. Intellectual maturity was assessed by Goodenough's human figure drawing test. The mother's age, sex, and educational level were used as covariates. Although correlation analyzes show that physical activity correlates with lower levels of intellectual maturity, after adjusting for covariates, the association disappears. Despite these findings, there are studies that do show a positive association. A proposal for integrated games in infant education classes is suggested.
