In this Project I wish to study one of Shakespeare’s sonnets . This is sonnet 128 and I wish to make the reader see how three authors have translated this sonnet into Spanish. I examine and compare three translations made by three Spanish authors, how they understand sonnet 128 and how they use metaphors and symbology used by Shakespeare. I also study how the original text is translated in order to keep the Shakespearian rhyme and musicality as well as the sensations that the poet wants to communicate. Firstly I explain the Italian origins of sonnets, their influence in Europe, in Shakespeare and in the Spanish sonnet. I make a comparison between them. Secondly I explore the English sonnet structure in the Elizabethan period and finally how Spanish translators interpret it, so I intend to make a comparison between the three Spanish translations between them and the original sonnet.
